Weekend retreat

I had a great weekend retreating with my "Crackpot" friends there was only 6 of us there this time  one of our group was enjoying the sun in Fiji and the other recovering from an operation.
I managed to get a few things finished made 2 quilts exactly the same one was for my new great nephew who lives in Korea  to remind him of his NZ heritage. The other is a shop sample showing what you can make from the ABC panel.

This weekend was also when our yearly challenge was due most of us were finishing them over the weekend of course there was someone who had made hers just after the challenge had been set earlier in the year,
My Row

Everyone's rows side on a design wall. We think we would like to give this quilt to Ronald McDonald house.
My name was drawn out of the hat to set our next years challenge so now I have my thinking cap on.

Back Again

It is about time I kept my blog up to date. The last few months I have been working on an entry for the New Zealand Quilting symposium. This year they did not want the exhibition entries to be shown on blogs or any social media. As usual I under estimated the time it would take me to complete the quilt. But I made the deadline and my entry form has been posted off.

There has been a little progress on my Love Entwined top

I also managed to complete an entry for my local quilt guild the challenge this year was a portrait as the exhibition was held in the Wellington Portrait Gallery. I started this in a class with Jocelyn Leith.
I was fortunate to win a Merit Prize. I got a voucher to spend at the quilt shop where I work which I thought was funny,

I have given into the Lucy Boston craze this is my first completed block I have a few others on the go as well. Hopefully I can make this quilt from my stash as I have a lot of reproduction fabrics just not a lot suitable for fussy cutting.

Love Entwined

While not much sewing quilts has been happening here I have been able to work on the beautiful Love Entwined Block of the Month in the evenings. The centre is almost finished I changed a couple of pieces of appliqué as I didn't do it in monthly order ( a lesson learnt) and pieces didn't fit in the space.

I am loving this quilt Esther has done amazing work drafting a pattern from a photo of the original quilt.

More photos

I noticed these photos while I was loading the quilt photos. I wasn't able to put many photos onto my ipad while I was in Vietnam as it has run out of storage! Very annoying.

Finishes

As last year flew by without a lot of quilts completed I decided that before I could start anything new I have got to finish 10 quilt tops before starting anything new. I mentioned my plans to a friend and she laughed. So guess what they will be done!
Here's photos of quilt top 1 and 2.
Of course Taby had to assist.
